SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South women's lacrosse team trailed midway through the second quarter, but an 11-1 run by the Tigers sent the Colonels of Centre College home packing in the semifinals of the 2022 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament with a 14-9 win, Sunday from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers got the offense goin first with three straight goals in the first five minutes of the contest.
-Centre, however, was able to take advantage of Sewanee's turnovers, as they went on a 6-0 run to lead 6-3 with 6:26 left in the second quarter.
-Following a Sewanee timeout, the Tigers came back to life, as they ended the half on a 6-0 run of their own, led by back-to-back goals by
Hattie Fogarty in about a 23-second span.
Caroline Harlick added two goals in that stretch as well.
-In the third, it was a defensive battle for both teams, but Sewanee scored three goals in during the 7-minute mark in the period to lead 12-6 en route to a 13-7 lead for the Purple and White after three quarters.
BACK IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP
-Sewanee is back in the SAA Tournament Championship game for the first time since 2015. This will be the fourth championship appearance in the SAA-era and the sixth conference championship in program history.
-Sewanee has won two SAA Tournament Championships (2013-14).
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Hattie Fogarty was all over the place on Sunday. On offense, she scored five goals, and in the midfield, she forced four turnovers and scooped up six ground balls.

Emma Burns scored five points with three assists and two goals, while
Caroline Harlick put together a hat trick.

Winnie Pajcic led the Tigers defense with five caused turnovers, while
Jessica Southworth added four caused turnovers and ground balls each.

Molly Morris (11-4) earned 10 saves in the win for the Purple Tigers.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Lily Gahm and Haley Rice scored four points each. Rice had four goals, while Gahm had three assists and a goal. Gahm also won six draws.
-Lola Duff saved 10 shots in full time for the Colonels.
UP NEXT
With Rhodes defeating Birmingham-Southern, 26-3, in the other semifinal game, the Tigers and Lynx will go head-to-head in the SAA Tournament Championship game on Sunday, May 1 at noon from Memphis.
