MEMPHIS - The University of the South women's lacrosse team had a 12-9 deficit with less than eight minutes remaining in the third period, but that would be as close as the would get as Rhodes College won the 2022 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Women's Lacrosse Tournament Championship, 25-12, Sunday afternoon from Mason Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The top-seeded Lynx netted the first six goals of the game, but a man-up goal by
Ellie Tate Schutte started a string of three straight for the Tigers to make it a 6-3 score after 15 minutes.
-The Tigers had a man-down goal by Schutte to make it a 7-4 game, but the Lynx went off with a 5-1 run to lead 12-5 with 13:16 left in the third quarter.
-Sewanee did not go away, as the Purple Tigers scored four straight goals.
Hadley Meadows scored twice in the span, incluidng a man-up goal to make it a 12-9 score with 7:49 left in the third.
-Unfortunately, for Rhodes, they would pull away for good, as they scored six of the next seven.
-Sewanee finishes the 2022 campaign with 14 wins, matching the 2017 team as the second-best total in program history.

Hattie Fogarty won eight draw controls and tallied five points thanks to a hat trick and two assists.
-She becomes the first player in program history to achieve 100 points in a season, as she finishes with 104. The senior is also the new record-holder in goals in a season (71) and draw controls (98).

Hadley Meadows and
Ellie Tate Schutte each had a hat trick in the game. Meadows also added three draws.
-
Molly Morris (11-5) made 16 saves and forced two turnovers in goal.
RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Baylee Barker scored eight goals for Rhodes, while Payton Bennett dropped six goals and three assists.
