SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South baseball program dropped a doubleheader to Centre College from Montgomery Field on Saturday, 8-4 and 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

-In between games, Sewanee celebrated its 11 seniors on Senior Day:
Jack Ahlum,
Dalton Buckingham,
Benny Ennis,
Wesley House,
Carter Huffman,
Sully McCreery,
Foster Olson,
Daniel Pritchett,
Wade Sansone,
Holden Shell and
Hayden Swisher.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-Centre sent 11 batters to the plate in the top half of the first and scored five times, despite getting the ball out of the outfield once.
-The Colonels added a run in the second, sixth and eighth innings to push the lead to 8-0.
-Sewanee would string together a rally in the ninth to avoid the shutout.
Jack Roode recorded an RBI groundout, and later,
Wade Sansone scored a Karson Thompson wild pitch.

Mike Lewishall followed with a two-bagger to the right-center field gap to bring home
Wesley House. Lewishall would later score Sewanee's fourth run of the inning thanks to a wild pitch and an errant throw by Will Kempf.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
-In the nightcap, it was your typical pitcher's duel. Sewanee had an opportunity to dent the scoreboard in the bottom of the first. However, it was for not, as the Tigers stranded runners at first and third.
-In the fourth, Centre put together three straight base knocks to load the bases. Jamie Laframbois sent a fly ball deep enough to bring in the Colonels' first run.
-In the seventh, Patrick Hope gave the Colonels a little breathing room thanks to a one-out RBI double.
-On the mound, Carson Werrmann set down the last 18 batters he faced to secure the seven-inning, complete game shutout.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Mike Lewishall put together three hits on Saturday, including two in game one, with an RBI and a run scored.
-In game one,
Matt Munn tossed six innings, his longest outing of the year, and matched a career-best with seven strikeouts.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Mark Pyburn recorded back-to-back multi-hit games in the doubleheader sweep for the Colonels.
-Carson Werrmann (3-4) faced just three batters over the minimum with 12 strikeouts and scattering across two hits and a walk for the complete game shutout in game two.
UP NEXT
The Tigers conclude the home schedule with a midweek doubleheader with Brescia (Ky.). First pitch is set for 2 p.m. from Montgomery Field.
