SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South baseball team recorded a 10-5 setback to Centre College in game one of a three-game, Southern Athletic Association (SAA) series, Friday afternoon from Montgomery Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Centre got the offense going from the start thanks to back-to-back free passes to start the game. A bunt single and a groundout gave the Colonels the 2-0 lead after a half inning.
-Sewanee would respond quickly in the bottom half as
Carter Huffman and
Wade Sansone put together hits. After a wild pitch to move the runners to second and third,
Wesley House drove them both home on a base knock to left.
-In the second, the Colonels were patient at the plate, as four walks and two hit-by-pitches from the Sewanee pitching staff helped the visitors score four times in the inning to lead 6-2.

Logan Martin came in for the Tigers in the third, and all he did was punch out three straight batters on called third strikes.
-The momentum pushed to the Tiger bats in the bottom of the third, as Sansone and House led off the inning with back-to-back base hits. After a
Sully McCreery sacrifice bunt,
Mike Lewishall would reach on an infield hit, and, thanks to a Centre error, saw Sansone score on the play.

Alden Wright followed with a two-run base knock through the left side to make it a 6-5 score after three innings.
-Jordan Gunter for Centre made it a 7-5 affair in the top of fourth on a first-pitch home run to right center field.
-The visitors would add single tallies in the eighth and ninth to pull away.

Alden Wright drove in two runs, while
Wesley House went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI and a double.

Carter Huffman and
Wade Sansone also had multi-hit performances.

Logan Martin recorded 10 strikeouts and allowed five hits in six innings of relief.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Perry Nadreau had a 3-for-4 day at the plate with two RBI and a triple, while Jordan Gunter had a two-RBI game with a homer.
-Jess Miller (2-3) struck out seven batters in eight innings of work.
UP NEXT
The two teams will battle on Saturday in a doubleheader. It will also be Senior Day for the baseball program, with festivities happening in between games.
