HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 1
-The visitors posted back-to-back runs in the first two innings to jump out to a 2-0 lead. However, the Tigers began crawling back thanks to a
Jadon Fetrow sacrifice fly in the second and a
Sully McCreery single in the fourth.
-OU responded with a run in the fifth to reclaim the lead, 3-2, thanks to a wild pitch. In the bottom half of the frame, the Purple and White recorded three runs in the inning thanks to a
Jack Ahlum RBI double and a two-run base knock by Fetrow.
-In the seventh, leading 5-3,
Wesley House added an insurance run with his leadoff home run.
-However, the Petrels answered with two runs in the top of the eighth before tying the game in the ninth.
-Sewanee had the winning run at second base with one out, but a strikeout and lineout forced the game to extra innings.
-OU used a leadoff base hit and a walk to put runners on first and nobody out. After a groundout to push the runners 90 feet, Connor Ledet chopped into a fielder's choice, while Harrison Hall was tagged out in a rundown.
-The momentum stayed with the Petrels, however, as the next batter, Jonathan Cruz laced a two-run single to make it an 8-6 affair.
-Sewanee countered with a run of their own with a
Wade Sansone RBI single, but the Tigers would leave the tying run in scoring position to end the game.
HOW IT HAPPENED, GAME 2
