SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South men's lacrosse team had a double overtime thriller with Rhodes College on Sunday afternoon from historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium, as the Tigers defeated the Lynx, 13-12.

-Prior to face off, six Sewanee seniors were recognized:
Hampton Brannon,

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers and the Lynx went back and forth in the first half. Sewanee netted the first three goals of the game before Rhodes responded with two goals.
Davis Gillenwater gave Sewanee the 4-2 lead with 3:43 left in the period.
-Rhodes added two more goals in the final minutes of the period to even the game at four goals apiece.
-Gillenwater recorded a man-up goal to give the Tigers the lead again, 6-5 with 8:10 left in the half. However, the Lynx responded with two more goals to give the visitors the 7-6 lead at the halftime horn.
-Trailing 9-8 going into the fourth quarter, the Purple Tigers netted three straight goals, including a man-up goal by
Ryan Hofstetter to make it an 11-9 affair with 9:41 left in the regulation.
-The Tigers made it a 12-10 lead with eight minutes left in the game, but Rhodes used two goals late to force the game into overtime.
-After each team could not find the back of the net in the first four minutes of overtime, the contest went into double overtime. Rhodes put themselves in a situation at the 2:17 mark in the period, as Grant Jenson went to the penalty box for a slashing penalty.
Luke Valentine responded with a man-up goal to send the fans home happy.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Ryan Hofstetter and
Davis Gillenwater tallied four points. Hofstetter posted two goals and assists each, while Gillenwater recorded a hat trick and added an assist.

Charlie Warren won 16 face offs on Sunday with eight ground balls.
RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Christian Cisneros scored five points with two goals and three assists, while Conor Casey added three points on two goals and an assist.
-Brendan Roberts saved 13 shots in 66 minutes.
UP NEXT
The Tigers will look to secure a first round home game if they can defeat top-seed and regular season champion Centre on Saturday in Danville, Ky.
