SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South women's lacrosse team downed the Griffins of Gwynedd Mercy University (Pa.), 21-10, Sunday afternoon from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee netted the first six goals in the first 5:09 of the contest en route to a 9-2 lead at the end of 15 minutes of play.
-Late in the second quarter, the Griffins found the back of the cage three straight times to cut the deficit to 13-6 with. After Sewanee won the draw,
Hattie Fogarty went down and found
Lizzie Chamberlin to give the Tigers the 14-7 lead at the break.
-The Purple Tigers shot 51% (21-of-42) on the day and edged GMU 19-15 on draw controls.

Emma Burns and
Hattie Fogarty each tallied six points for Sewanee on the day. Burns struck the back of the net five times and added an assist, while Fogarty went 3-of-4 on the day in shots and also assisted on three other goals.
-Fogarty also set a new career best in draws with 10.

Lizzie Chamberlin and
Haley Lewis recorded four points each. Chamberlin scored three times and added an assist, while Lewis posted four dimes.

Molly Morris (1-2) saved nine shots in goal for Sewanee.

-Anna Grace Bernicker posted three goals on the day, while Damali Teagle added two goals and assist.
