SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South women's lacrosse team was unable to overcome a slow first quarter despite coming back twice to tie the game, but it was the visitors of Oberlin College who picked up the 18-17 win, Saturday afternoon from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Yeowomen were in control from the opening draw, as they scored the first six goals of the game.
-However,
Emma Burns and
Hattie Fogarty went back-to-back to cut the deficit to four. However, Oberlin scored late in the opening quarter and first in the second stanza to get the lead back to its high of six goals.
-However, Sewanee scored five straight goals in nearly seven minutes to cut the deficit to 8-7 with 8:33 left in the half. Oberlin added three of the final four goals to lead 11-8 at the break.
-Oberlin pushed the lead back to a four-goal affair, 14-10, with 6:42 left in the third quarter. Sewanee responded with three straight goals to make it 14-13. Later in the frame, the Purple Tigers tied the game at 15 thanks to back-to-back goals by
Lizzie Chamberlin and
Hattie Fogarty, with both assists coming from
Emma Burns.
-Going into the final stanza all tied up, Oberlin reclaimed the lead on an unassisted goal, but the Purple and White responded with a man-up goal by Burns to even the game again.
-With less than eight minutes remaining, the Yeowomen reclaimed the lead for good and added a man-up goal for insurance with 5:11 to go.

Emma Burns led all scorers with seven points as she netted four goals and assisted on three others.

Hattie Fogarty earned a career-high eight draws and added five ground balls and caused turnovers each. Additionally, she also posted six points on four goals and two assists.

Lizzie Chamberlin added four goals, while
Molly Morris (0-2) recorded 11 saves between the pipes in full time.
OBERLIN KEY STATISTICS
-Audrey Koren posted six points on five goals and an assist, while Izzy Sunday added four goals. Annie Payne and Lauren Mills each scored twice and assisted on two goals.
-Sophia Ferrantelli (2-0) stopped five shots in 39 minutes.
