ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) released on Thursday the weekly awards for men's tennis. For the second time this season, the University of the South swept the weekly awards as
Quinn Wicklund earned Singles Player of the Week honors, while
Gil Weston and
Talman Ramsey earned Doubles Team of the Week honors.
The weekly awards are from the week of March 7-13.
Quinn Wicklund, SAA Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week
Wicklund posted a 2-0 week as he won matches against Josiah Myers-Lipton of No. 38 Swarthmore on March 11 and Matthew Gonzalgo of No. 22 Caltech on March 13.
At the No. 5 flight against the Garnet'sMyers-Lipton, the Dunwoody, Ga. native won 6-3, 6-3, and he posted a 6-3, 6-4 win over Gonzalgo of the Beavers.
After Sewanee's spring break festivities in California, Wicklund is 7-6 so far in 2021-22.
Gil Weston and Talman Ramsey, SAA Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
The duo earned two wins on the week at the No. 3, recording an 8-5 win of Rishi Gundakaram/John Kim and and 8-7 (6) win of Amherst's Willie Turchetta/Micah Elias.
So far this season, Ramsey/Weston are 4-3 on the season.
Sewanee's second half of the season starts on Saturday, March 26 against No. 5 Emory and Piedmont.
