SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South track and field teams opened the indoor portion of the 2022-23 schedule with the Sewanee Early Season Invitational on Friday from the Fowler Center Fieldhouse.

WOMEN TOP PERFORMERS

Jocelyn Covaney took the top spot in the 55 hurdles (10.50 seconds) and finished second in the 200 meters (31.53).

Ellie Hemmelgarn took the win in the 400 meters (1:14.79), while
Allison Haworth recorded a winning time of 5:57.65 in the mile.

Maya Quick clocked in at 7.76 seconds in the 55 meters, while
Emma Howlett won the shot put (10.02 meters) and took second in the weight throw (10.17 meters).
MEN TOP PERFORMERS

Lawson Vaughan cleared 11.29 meters in the triple jump, while
Sam Leonard posted 1.95 meters in the high jump and 56.46 seconds in the 400.

Carson Coody set a new personal best with a 7.01-second time in the 55 meters. Additionally, his 25.89-second finish in the 200 is also an indoor best.

Jack Sutphen took second in the 200 meters with a 25.71-second sprint. In the 55 meters, he clocked in at 7.29 seconds.

Following a break for the holidays, the Tigers return to action on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2023 with the KMS Invitational from the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
