DEMOREST, Ga. - The University of the South women's basketball dropped two games to preseason favorites Greensboro College and Piedmont University over the weekend. On Saturday, the Tigers fell 78-64 to the Pride, and the Lions defeated the Tigers on Sunday, 75-57. Both games were held at the Cave Arena on the campus of Piedmont University.

HOW IT HAPPENED, GREENSBORO
-Sewanee started the game with Greensboro on a 7-0 run, but the Pride immediately erased the deficit on a 12-0 run of their own.
-Leading 17-9 after one period, the Pride started the second period with a 15-1 run in a four-minute span to make it a 32-10 lead.
-In the fourth quarter, after dropping 25 in the third, Sewanee outscored Greensboro, 18-12, in the fourth quarter.
-Greensboro is picked to win the USA South Athletic Conference in 2022-23.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Kayla Antoine led the Tigers with 14 points and added 10 rebounds for the double-double.

Faith Humphrey scored 13 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out four dimes, and
Lilly Phillips drained four shots from downtown to score 12.
GREENSBORO KEY STATISTICS
-Audrey Jennings led all scorers with 23 points on 6-of-13 shooting and added 9-of-11 from the charity stripe. On ball control, she grabbed six rebounds and added four thefts.
HOW IT HAPPENED, PIEDMONT
-After
Camryn Broussard started the game on a made triple, Piedmont posted a 14-2 run to lead by nine points, at the first quarter media.
-The Tigers would battle to get the deficit back seven on two free throws to
Olivia Falvey. However, each team scored 13 points in the second quarter to keep the lead in favor of the Lions, 33-26.
-Sewanee did cut the deficit to five points, 52-47, after three quarters of play, but the home-standing Lions posted a 23-10 fourth quarter thanks to a perfect 13-of-13 from the charity stripe.
-The coaches of the Collegiate Conference of the South voted Piedmont to win the league in 2022-23.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Kayla Antoine scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while
Faith Humphrey added 13 points and eight boards.

Camryn Broussard picked up seven rebounds.
PIEDMONT KEY STATISTICS
-Nakiyah Washington led all scorers with 29 points on 9-of-19 from the field and a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe. She also posted a double-double with 12 rebounds.
