LAGRANGE, Ga. - The University of the South men's basketball team rolled to a 100-63 victory versus Huntingdon College (Ala.) in the opener of the Wingate by Wyndham Classic, Friday night from Mariotti Gymnasium on the campus of LaGrange College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers got out to a rocking start with a 10-0 lead three minutes into the game. After a Huntingdon triple, Sewanee went on an 18-2 run capped by a
Rashaun Williams shot from downtown to lead 28-5, at the nine-minute mark.
-The Purple and White held Huntingdon to 22 points in the first half on 8-of-28 shooting (28.6%) and just one triple in nine attempts. The Tigers had a 49-22 lead at the break.
-Sewanee did get the lead to 30 after a three-point play by
Colin Kahl, as the Tigers hit the century mark for the second time in five games.
Blake Bouldin scored the final four points for the Tigers, including back-to-back layups to send Sewanee to 100 points.
-Sewanee held Huntingdon to 38.7% from the floor and 4-of-20 from downtown. Additionally, the Tigers kept the Hawks to 63 points, matching their season-low in point total in four games.
NOTES AND NUGGETS
-Sewanee picked up its 13th win over LaGrange in the series history on Friday, and the 100 points the Tigers scored is the most in the 29 meetings between the two schools. Averaging 67 points a game, the Tigers break the previous high of 93 set in 2015 inside Juhan Gymnasium.
-For the second time this season, Sewanee scored 100 in a game, joining the school record performance of 131 set last week against Warren Wilson. This marks the first time since the 2016-17 season that the Puprle and White scored 100 in a game. Sewanee dropped 101 on Johnson (Tenn.) on Nov. 19, 2016 and 111 on Rhodes on Jan. 15, 2017.
-Sewanee scored triple digits on the road for the first time since Dec. 7, 2018 at Johnson, defeating the Royals, 103-71, outside Knoxville.
-The Tigers also ended a 13-game road losing streak, with their last win coming in the 2020 season at Berry on Feb. 9.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-As a team, Sewanee shot 56.5% (39-of-69) from the floor and 20-of-32 (62.5%) in the final 20 minutes.
-Four Tigers recorded double-digit performances, led by
Luka Avaliani's 19 to match a career-high. The sophomore went 7-of-10 from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the charity stripe. He also added five rebounds and four dimes.

Tre Corrigan had a season-best 18 points on 6-of-11 from the field and 4-of-8 from downtown, while
Russ Marr added 16 points on 7-of-10.

Colin Kahl posted a 6-of-9 mark with 13 points and eight rebounds.
HUNTINGDON KEY STATISTICS
-Chase Dumas was the only Hawk in double figures with 12. Nate Johns missed a double-double with 11 rebounds and nine points.
