SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South men's basketball team dropped a Saturday decision to Covenant College, 77-67, in the final day of the Lon Varnell Classic inside Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The visiting Scots got out to an 8-0 lead before
Russ Marr ended the drought on a 3-pointer.
-Sewanee did get the deficit to two points, 16-14, after a
Graham Smith triple, but a 10-2 run by Covenant pushed the lead further in the visitor's direction.
-A late 3-pointer by Charlie Hester made it a 34-27 lead at the break for the Scots, but the Tigers came out strong in the second half. After a Covenant layup, Sewanee went on a 12-3 run to even the score at 39 at the under-16 media timeout.
-However, that would be as close as the Tigers would get as the Scots got the lead back up to double digits.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Coming off a career night on Friday,
Russ Marr totaled 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting.
-
Colin Kahl heated up for Sewanee in the second half, totaling 13 points and added five boards, three assists and two blocks.
-
Tre Corrigan dropped 11 points on three triples and added three dimes and steals each.
Graham Smith, off the bench, scored 10 points in 22 minutes.
COVENANT KEY STATISTICS
-Jonathan Gernatt and Promise Igbanu each posted 23 points for the Scots. Igbanu tallied a double-double with 11 boards.
