Atlanta, GA: On Saturday, October 1st, the University of the South Women's Soccer team travled down to Atlanta to take on Oglethorpe in their second SAA contest of the year. A 20th minute goal by
Brianna Fee put the Tigers over the top, as they defeated the Stormy Petrels 1-0.
INSIDE THE MATCH UP:
Sewanee (5-4-1, 1-1 SAA) 1, Oglethorpe (3-4-1, 0-2 SAA) 0.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Sewanee offense came out firing, taking five shots in the first 10 minutes of the game.Â
- In the 20th minute,
Brianna Fee found the back of the net off of a cross from
Kylene Monaghan for her second goal of the year and put Sewanee up 1-0.
- The Tigers would take four more shots in the first half, but were unable to find the back of the net.
- The defense stole the show in the second half, as
Leah Atkins had two of her three saves in the second half to keep Oglethorpe out of the back of the net.
- Kate Thompson played all 90 minutes and
Lacey Carder played 83 minutes on the back line that kept Oglethorpe scoreless.Â
KEY SEWANEE STATISTICS:
- The Tigers out shot Oglethorpe 33-3, a team high for this season.Â
- Fee scored her second goal of the year, and took 10 shots.Â

- Haley Lowell had 11 saves.Â
