Early Monaghan Goal Leads Sewanee Past Belhaven

Vestavia Hills, AL: On Tuesday, October 4th, the University of the South Women's Soccer team took on Belhaven in a non conference match up at a neutral site. A Sewanee goal by Kylene Monaghan just over a minute into the match was the difference, as the Tigers would come away with a 1-0 win.

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
Sewanee (6-4-1) 1, Belhaven (4-5-2) 0.

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
- 1:10 into the match, Kylene Monaghan fired a shot from 18 yards out to put Sewanee up 1-0.
- Sewanee would be on the attack the rest of the half, taking 10 more shots in the first half.
- Leah Atkins helped preserve the 1-0 lead, registering two saves in the first half. 
- The second half saw Sewanee continue their attacking ways, as the Tigers took 15 shots in the second half. 
- Atkins recorded two more saves in the second half to seal the win for the Tigers.

KEY SEWANEE STATISTICS:
- Sewanee had four players take three or more shots, with Brianna Fee leading the way with seven shots. Kylene Monaghan and Samantha Ferry each took four shots, and lACEY carder took three shots.
