HOW IT HAPPENED
-Despite the first 20 minutes being a back-and-forth battle, the Tigers reclaimed the lead with 5:32 left in the opening half thanks to a
Keisha Phillips layup.
-Sewanee pushed the lead to four late in the stanza, but an Abby Bragg jumper gave Welch the 28-26 deficit at the break.
-The Purple and White saw a spark after a three-point play by
Kayla Antoine early in the second half. The home team went an 8-0 run to lead 40-32 at the 5:30 mark in the third.
-After that spark, the Tigers would not relinquish the lead until the 2-minute mark in the ballgame when an Emma Wall triple gave the visitors the two-point lead, 65-63.
-However, Antoine's back-to-back jumpers in the paint gave Sewanee the lead for good.
