MEMPHIS - The University of the South women's basketball team hung around with the preseason favorites in Rhodes College, Friday night from Mallory Gymnasium, but it was the home-standing Lynx who came away with a 76-51 victory in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Rhodes, who did not play last week due to COVID-19 protocols, showed signs of rust early in the game, but the Lynx pulled away in the final seconds of the frame. However, as the seconds dwindled down,
Ashley Stewart knocked down the half-court heave off the backboard. Sewanee was able to trim the deficit to 20-14.
-The Lynx pushed their lead to 13 points in the second quarter, and they held on to a 34-23 lead at the break.
-The home team used a 42-28 run in the second half and a 14-of-29 mark from the floor to seal the contest.
-Rhodes, who was ranked in the top-25 in both the D3hoops.com and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA), was picked to win the league in 2022 after winning the SAA a year ago.

Kayla Antoine recorded her second double-double in as many games with a 15-point, 10-rebound effort on Friday. Six of her 10 boards came on the offensive glass. From the floor, she posted a 7-of-9 effort.

Ellie Treanton posted 10 points and seven rebounds.

-Catherin Althoff led all scorers with 17 points and 13 rebounds in 13 bench minutes.
-Libby Long added 16 points, while Alli Mayeux contributed 14.
