DANVILLE, Ky. - The University of the South field hockey team fell to Allegheny College, 4-2, Sunday afternoon from the South Turf Field on the campus of Centre College.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Similar to Saturday, Sewanee came out swinging in the circle, taking four shots in about a minute's span, all saved by the Allegheny keeper, Hallie Reiger.
-In the sixth minute, on the Gators' first shot attempt of the day, Ramsay Smith found the back of the cage for the early 1-0 lead.
-Almost two minutes, the contest was square again, as
Moira Darling struck for her first goal of the year to make the score 1-1.
-Allegheny reclaimed the lead for good in the second period off a penalty corner. After a shot attempt was saved by
Barbara Canty, the rebound went to Ella O'Connor and the ball landed in the back of the cage.
-The Gators added an insurance goal in the 51st minute to make it 3-1, but
Molly Wheeler's first goal of the year cut the score to 3-2 in the 53rd minute. After Darling took the corner,
Mimi Wilson found Wheeler's stick for the goal.
-Unfortunately, the Gators put the game out of reach with their fourth goal of the game 16 seconds later.

Molly Wheeler recorded eight shots to lead the Tigers and scored her first goal of the season.

Caroline Pulliam attempted seven shots, while
Moira Darling scored once on four attempts.

Barbara Canty (0-1) stopped three shots in the first half, while
Claire Damare recorded two saves in the final 30 minutes.

-Ella O'Connor led the Gators with two goals on three shots, while Ramsay Smith added a goal on six shots.
-Kelsey Anderson also scored for Allegheny, while Hallie Reiger (1-1) saved 12 shots.
