SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South field hockey team were downed by Roanoke College, 6-0, Saturday afternoon from Puett Field, in the team's home opener.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Roanoke had a goal in the sixth minute to start the contest before scoring twice in the second quarter (17' and 25') to lead 3-0 at the halftime break.
-The Maroons added three more goals in the second half (35', 45', 47') to secure the contest.
-The visitors out-shot the Tigers, 27-7, and the Maroons had 15 penalty corners.

Barbara Canty posted five saves in the first half, while
Morgan Day stopped seven shots.

-Emilee Wooten had two assists and a goal on seven shots, Katherine Martin, Claire Eisenhart and Grace Vernarelli each had four shots.
-Hannah Roerden posted four stops in full time for the Maroons.
