CINCINNATI - The University of the South women's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over the Pioneers of Transylvania University on the opening day of the Mount St. Joseph Women's Soccer Invitational, Saturday evening from Schueler Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Similar to Wednesday's season opener at Covenant, Sewanee came out strong with five shots in the first 25 minutes of the match. In the 28th minute,
Maggie O'Hare made the touch to
Olivia Rhodes for her second goal of the young season.
-Once again, the Purple and White defense stood tall as they did not allow the Pioneers to take a shot in the first half, with their first attempt coming in the 52nd minute. In 90 minutes, Sewanee limited Transy to just two shots.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Four Tigers were able to muster two total shots on Saturday:
Olivia Rhodes,
Bea Richardson,
Brianna Fee and
Ashlyn Richards.

Abby Jones (1-0) picked up her first collegiate win in goal for Sewanee, playing all 90 minutes and, thanks to the help of her defense, did not face an on-target shot.
TRANSYLVANIA KEY STATISTICS
-Ainsley Bender and Abbey Rowe were the two Pioneers to get shots off against Sewanee's stellar defense.
Morgan Patton (1-1) stopped seven shots for Transy in full time.
