HOW IT HAPPENED
-With Sewanee having three opportunities to strike in the first 10 minutes, it was Guilford that saw the back of the cage first. Riley Copeland found Sebastian Salas's pass in the 18th minute to put the hosts on the board first.
-The Purple and White defense held the Quakers there with just one shot allowed for the rest of the first half, as the Tigers trailed 1-0 at the half.
-The Tigers had two big opportunities to even the score late in the period.
Grant Shepherd had a great cross to
Ethan Dutka, but the ball was just too quick for him.
-A few minutes later,
Michael Edge had a strong cross to the front, but it was deflected by a Quaker defender and the threat ended.
-3:38 into the second half, after a Sewanee caution, Kenny Nzekewe struck the back of the next after a Jasper Ardinger pass to give Guilford the 2-0 edge.
-Almost two and a half minutes later, Nzekwe struck again to put the contest out of reach.
-Despite falling to the Quakers, the Tigers out-shot the hosts, 16-11, including 12-5 on goal and 12-6 in the second half.
