CONWAY, Ark. - The University of the South football program dropped a non-conference matchup with Hendrix College, 49-27, Saturday afternoon from Young-Wise Memorial Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the first quarter, Sewanee's
Keegan Glaze blocked and picked up Hendrix's punt attempt in the end zone for the score with 7:22 left in the opening quarter to lead 6-0.
-Hendrix responded in the second stanza with a 23-yard pass to Chris Childress to earn its first lead of the game, 7-6.
-On the next drive, the Purple and While had a 57-yard touchdown score by
Dagem Samuel from
Jeremiah Young to regain the lead, 13-7, with 7:33 left in the half.
-The Warriors came out from there and scored two more touchdown passes to lead 21-13 at the break.
-Hendrix scored three more touchdowns in the third quarter to lead 42-13 with 7:30 left in the third quarter.

Cyrus McCullough added a touchdown reception in the third period, and
Hunter Jones had a 12-yard reception in the fourth quarter.
-Saturday's contest was a non-conference matchup as both teams respective Week 1 games were canceled due to COVID-19.

Jeremiah Young threw for 249 yards on 22-of-44 passing and three touchdowns.

Cyrus McCullough caught eight passes for 82 yards and a touchdown.

Jacob Jackson posted 13 stops.

-Parker Wells had 295 offensive yards through the air on 17-of-21 passing and six touchdowns.
-Colton Phillips and Chris Childress had 145 and 100 yards receiving, respectively. Quentin Tolbert ran for 123 yards on the ground.
-Seth Hakanson led the Warriors with seven tackles.

Conference play begins across the Southern Athletic Association next week, as the Tigers will travel to Birmingham-Southern for a 6 p.m. kickoff from the Magic City.
