SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South volleyball team dropped two matches to Centre College and Covenant College. The Tigers went five sets with the Colonels before being swept by the Scots. Saturday afternoon inside Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED, CENTRE
-Sewanee had to rally late in the opening set, 26-24 to take the lead in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opener for both teams.
-Centre took the match lead, 2-1, after 25-18 and 25-17 set victories. The Colonels outkilled the Tigers, 25-20, and they used a .429 swing percentage (14-2-28) in the second stanza.
-Sewanee rallied back and forced the fifth set with a 26-24 victory, but it was the Colonels that prevailed with a 15-7 rout of the fifth and deciding set.
-The Colonels are receiving votes in the latest American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) coaches poll.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Lilly Reilly and
Olivia Jones led the Tigers with 12 kills. The freshman Jones had a .381 attack percentage (12-4-21) and finished with 14.5 points with five assisted blocks.
-Reilly had a double-double with 10 assists.

Lydia Goffi added 10 kills on the day and added four block assists.

Adele Cassidy added 20 digs, while
Kaylee Scharfman assisted on 33 of the team's 48 kills.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Katie Hall led all attackers with 16 kills and a .324 swing percentage (16-4-37).
-Brooke Palmer added 10 kills.
HOW IT HAPPENED, COVENANT
-Despite being out-attacked by the hosts, 41-38, Covenant took advantage of Sewanee errors and seven service aces in the contest to win in straight sets, 25-21, 25-19, 25-23.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Ellie Pedersen led the way for Sewanee with 12 kills on 20 attacks and two errors for a hitting percentage of .500.

Adele Cassidy and
Kaylee Scharfman each had 11 digs.
COVENANT KEY STATISTICS
-Kelsey Carmen led the visitors with 11 kills, while Emma Klabfleisch posted 10.
