HOW IT HAPPENED
-In the season opener for both teams, it took some time for set pieces to appear. In the 16th minute, off a corner kick, Drew Zolper struck for the opening goal of the match off a double assist by Evan Poole and Severing Velasco.

-In the 37th minute, off a free kick, Alonso Angel evened the match with a goal to even the score, but Sewanee's Tyler Cozzie gave the Tigers the lead in the 43rd minute after a corner kick.

-However, the lead would not last long for the Purple and White as William Bryan netted the equalizer in the 48th minute.

-Sewanee maintained its dominance throughout the entirety of the match, outshooting the visitors, 11-5, in the second half and 17-13 for the match.

-In the final minutes of regulation, Sewanee had two back-to-back opportunities to win the contest. With less than two minutes remaining in the half, Trevor Reichman attempted to get one past the Maryville keep, but he deflected it to Connor Dail, and his attempt was saved by a MC defender. The match was forced into extra time.

-In the extra period, each team posted a shot. For Sewanee, David Edge received the pass from Severin Velasco's corner kick, but his header was picked up by the Scots keeper.

-In the final seconds of the first period of overtime, Maryville had a throw that was deflected by a Sewanee defender and found the leg of Ndubeze Henry for the game-winner.
