HOW IT HAPPENED
-The contest started out very slowly for both teams, as it seemed the score was stuck on 3-2 for an eternity. Despite a Karis McIntosh three-pointer with two minutes left to lead 6-2,
Kinsley Logan scored the next five points to lead, 7-6, after one quarter of play.
-Sewanee's momentum continued in the second stanza, as
Keisha Phillips scored the next eight points, and before you know it, the Tigers were on a 15-0 run with five minutes left in the quarter. Covenant would cut the deficit back to single digits late in the frame, but it was the Purple and White who took the lead into the locker room, 21-16.
-Covenant came out strong in the third stanza, but Sewanee held its ground with a six-point lead, 39-33, going into the fourth quarter.
-The Tigers were able to get the lead to nine points at the under-7 mark in the final period, but the Scots finished on a 12-5 run to take the game away from the hosts.
-Cosette Kirsch gave the Scots the victory with a 2.9-second triple from downtown to win the game, 53-50.
