ATLANTA - Four student-athletes from the University of the South men's soccer team were recognized for their performance during the regular season, as they were named to the 2021 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Men's Soccer All-SAA Team, announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
David Edge,
Evan Poole,
Thompson Schollaert and
Severin Velasco were recognized as Honorable Mention members.
Edge, a sophomore from Clayton, N.C., tallied eight points on the season thanks to three goals and two assists as a defender.
Poole, a senior from Birmingham, Ala., scored 10 points on three goals and four assists. His four dimes are tied for eighth-best in the league. Poole concludes his career with 12 goals and seven assists for 31 total points.
Schollaert, a senior from Raleigh, N.C., saw limited time this season due to injury, but once he returned to the pitch, he posted two assists. Ending his career with the Purple and White, Schollaert finished with 39 points on 12 goals and 15 assists.
Velasco, a senior from Richmond, Va., netted five goals on the year, good for eighth-best in the SAA, and added four assists, also eighth in the league. His 14 points are ninth-most in the conference. In 68 career matches with the Tigers, he has posted 34 points on 12 goals and 10 assists.
Sewanee finished with an 8-8-2 overall record and advanced to the semifinals of the SAA Tournament for the second time in the SAA-era.
