DEMOREST, Ga. - The University of the South men's basketball team fell in a road match-up Monday night, 80-62, to Piedmont University from the Cave Arena.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The contest was played pretty evenly in the first 20 minutes, as the score was tied up at 34.
-However, the Tigers held the Lions to just 2-of-6 from downtown in the first half, while the Purple and White drained 6-of-16 from beyond the arc.
-Piedmont was able to push the lead to seven early in the second stanza, 48-41. Despite a layup by
Colin Kahl, the Lions went on a 10-5 run to push the lead to 12, 58-46.
-Despite Sewanee making a comeback, the Lions held on to the lead with a 10-2 run in over a five-minute span late in the game to seal the deal.
-The hosts turned it on in the second half, outscoring the Tigers, 46-28, and shot 19-of-30 from the field (63.3%). Piedmont was predicted to finish second in the USA South West Division.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS

Colin Kahl led all scorers with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, including 3-of-5 from downtown. The junior added five rebounds and two blocks.

Tre Corrigan dished out six assists to go with eight points and two steals, while
John Crump added 16 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
PIEDMONT KEY STATISTICS
-Jordan Foote led the Lions with 19 points, eight boards and four thefts.
-Evan Easton went a perfect 7-of-7 from the field en route to a 16-point performance.

The Tigers continue the road swing this weekend with the Wingate by Wyndham Classic in LaGrange, Ga. Sewanee will face Huntingdon in a neutral-site contest Friday evening.
