MEQUON, Wis. - The University of the South field hockey team opened the 2021 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Field Hockey Tournament with a 2-1 victory over Transylvania University in the first round of the event, Friday afternoon from Tomasini Stadium on the campus of Concordia University Wisconsin.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Late in the second quarter,
Caroline Pulliam found
Brennan Singer's pass for the goal to give the Tigers the 1-0 advantage at the halftime break.
-TU was able to even the contest almost four minutes into the third period by Mirabel Noltemeyer.
-Almost three minutes later, Pulliam netted her second goal of the game and her seventh of the season to give the Tigers the lead for good.
-Sewanee's defense stood strong in the fourth quarter, as the Tigers limited the Pioneers to one shot in the final 15 minutes.

Mimi Wilson each posted two shots on goal in the contest.

Claire Damare (2-4) earned the win by playing the second half and making three saves.
TRANSYLVANIA KEY STATISTICS
