SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South football team suffered a 55-13 defeat to Rhodes College in the 67th meeting of the Orgill Cup Trophy, Saturday afternoon from Historic Hardee-McGee Field at Harris Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-With Sewanee taking the ball on offense to start the game,
Tucker Kirk used a wildcat formation to score from 38 yards out to get the offense on the board. Despite the point-after-attempt being blocked, the Tigers posted a 6-0 lead.
-After the teams traded possessions, Rhodes struck for its first score of the game with 6:16 left in the first quarter as Luke Macias posted a 16-yard touchdown pass to Aaron Cooper.
-As the contest shifted to the second quarter, Sewanee used a 10-play, 71-yard drive to regain the lead thanks to a completion from
Jeremiah Young to
Dagem Samuel for 36 yards. That gave the Purple and White the 13-7 advantage with 11:53 left in the half.
-However, Rhodes scored on its final two possessions of the half to lead 21-13 going into the locker room.
-The third quarter had high hopes for Sewanee, as
Kason Holder picked off a pass in the endzone on Rhodes's first drive of the second half. However, two plays later, the Lynx punched out the football and recovered to get their offense back on the field.
-That turnover would lead to a 25-yard rushing touchdown by Elijah Bane to give the visitors the 28-13 lead.
-Rhodes added 27 points in the fourth quarter to complete the rout.

Tucker Kirk posted 56 yards on the ground and scored a touchdown, while
Dagem Samuel caught 52 yards on seven catches.

Kason Holder posted a career-high nine tackles, one for a loss, and added two breakups and one pick.

John Harbison each recorded a sack on the defensive side.
RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Luke Macias had 120 yards of offense under center as he finished the day with a 16-of-30 performance with 208 yards and four touchdowns.
-James Moskosky led the running game with 90 yards, while Umikoa Kealoha posted 80 receiving yards on five catches and a touchdown.
