ATLANTA - The University of the South men's soccer team kept No. 18/23 Emory University scoreless through the first 48 minutes, but the Eagles prevailed with two second half goals en route to a 2-0 final score, Monday evening from the Woodruff PE Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Both teams were on the offensive prowl early in the match. The Eagles had four shots in the first 10 minutes of the match, with
JP Furman collecting two saves. On the other end of the field, the Tigers had three shots in the first 17 minutes with a Jack Hudson save.
-Emory went on to out-shoot Sewanee, 7-4 in the first 45 minutes, but nothing crossed the goal line after 45 minutes of play.
-The scoreless bout would go no further in the 50th minute, as Nate Sampson netted his second goal of the season.
-Sewanee had two opportunities to equal the score off corner kicks, but one shot was wide and another was stopped by the Emory keeper.
-Adding insult to injury, the Eagles were able to net their second goal of the contest off a corner kick. After two attempts at the goal, Matt Engler gave the hosts the 2-0 advantage with less than 15 minutes remaining in the match.
