SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South volleyball team concluded the regular season on Saturday with a home contest versus Rhodes College, and it did not disappoint. The Tigers edged the Lynx in five sets, Saturday inside Juhan Gymnasium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Truly a see-saw match throughout, the first set saw a lot of ups and downs for both teams. Rhodes won five of the first six points as they had a 17-11 lead at one point.
-Sewanee went on a strong run, winning the next eight points to lead, 19-17, but Rhodes came roaring back to regain the lead, 21-19.
-The teams went back-and-forth from there, but it was Sewanee, thanks to kills by
Ellie Pedersen and
Laurel Burkhardt, that won the opening set, 30-28.
-The Lynx evened the match at one set apiece with a 25-21 victory before Sewanee reclaimed the lead in the third set, 25-14.
-The visitors fended off the hosts in the fourth set to force the deciding frame, 26-24.
-Sewanee rolled in the fifth set, 15-10, to take the match. The Tigers posted a .625 hitting percentage (10-0-16).

Ellie Pedersen had a remarkable day for the Purple and White, as she set a new career-best in 20 kills and a .421 attack percentage (20-4-38). The senior surpassed her previous high of 15 set her freshman year against Centre on Sept. 18, 2018. The senior also added 1.5 blocks on the day.

Lilly Reilly dropped 18 kills on a .429 swing percentage (18-3-35) and added 12 digs.

Lexi Williams recorded 47 assists and two service aces, while
Anna Ball contributed 13 digs.

Adele Cassidy led all defenders with 25 digs.
-On the day, the Purple and White tallied a .251 swing percentage with 67 kills and just 22 errors.
RHODES KEY STATISTICS
-Gabrielle White led the Lynx with 17 kills and a .343 attack percentage (17-5-35), while Shayla Garrison added 14 kills and 10 digs.
UP NEXT
The postseason begins on Friday for the volleyball program at Berry College in Rome, Ga. The Tigers will be the 5-seed in the tournament, and their opponent and match times will be announced by Monday.
