SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South field hockey team fell 4-1 to the Colonels of Centre College, Saturday afternoon from a rainy Puett Field.

Before the start of the game, Sewanee's two seniors were recognized on Senior Day:
Barbara Canty and
Molly Wheeler.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Tigers and Colonels played a defensive first quarter. However, the Purple and White were able to strike the scoreboard first. In the 13th minute,
Moira Darling netted her 17th goal of the year off a penalty corner and a
Eve Bournias pass.
-Centre claimed the lead for good with two goals in the second stanza in the 23rd and 27th minutes.
-Sewanee's defense continued to shine in the third quarter, but the visitors were able to add two more goals in the 49th and 57th minutes to secure the win.

Moira Darling led the Tigers with two shots, and
Caroline Pulliam added a shot on goal.

Barbara Canty (1-5) made five saves in full time.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Maran Lee had two assists in the game, as she also took five shots.
-Megan Coomes had two goals in the contest on six shots.
UP NEXT
Sewanee will next head to the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Field Hockey Tournament next weekend from Mequon, Wis. at Concordia Wisconsin. The Tigers' opponent and game times will be announced by Monday.
