WEEK 8 PREVIEW - Trinity

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The University of the South football team is back home Saturday for a showdown with No. 21/20 Trinity.

A LOOK AT THE TEXAS TIGERS: The preseason favorites have not disappointed us this season in Trinity. Despite losing their season opener due to COVID-19, the Tigers are undefeated with a 5-0 record, 3-0 in the SAA, and are ranked 21st in the D3football.Com poll and 20th in the American Football Coaches Associaiton (AFCA) poll. TU is coming off a 49-0 victory of Millsaps College last week at home.

Trinity is ranked in the top-20 in total offense (498.4), passing offense (314.4), passing efficiency (175.72) and scoring offense (43.0). However, the story so far this season for the Texas Tigers is their defense. The team hols the best rushing defense (36.0) and scoring defense (5.4) in the nation. Recording two shutouts, Texas Lutheran is the only team that can say that they dropped double figures on Trinity, posting 14 in a 51-14 rout of the Bulldogs.

Tucker Horn leads the way on offense for Trinity. So far in 2021, the junior has 1,358 yards and a 71.4 completion percentage (115-of-161). Austin Bertness has caught 340 receiving yards on 23 catches this season and is second in the SAA with seven touchdowns.

Winston Hutchison is averaging 85.6 yards on the ground  and has scored four times on 76 carries this season.

On defense, Jame Ogunrin leads the team with 30 tackles.

Head coach Jerheme Urban enters his eighth year at his alma mater. A 2003 graduate, Urban has comprised a 46-23 record.

LAST TIME OUT VERSUS TRINITY: On Oct. 26, 2019 in San Antonio, the Purple and White were defeated by TU, 51-12. The hosts posted a 30-6 lead at the halftime intermission.

AUTOMATIC SATTERFIELD: Jack Satterfield has been Mr. Reliable when getting the football on the other side of the field. The freshman leads the SAA in punt yards with 1,767. Additionally, five punts have been over 50 yards and eight have landed inside the 20 with two touchbacks.

His 37.6 average per punt is 57th-best in the nation, and he trails Wiley Henshaw of Rhodes by three yards for the top spot.
