JACKSON, Miss. - The University of the South volleyball team used a strong fourth set and a huge rally in the fifth set, but the Majors of Millsaps College prevailed at home. The Majors downed the Tigers in a five-set marathon, Saturday afternoon from the Hangar Dome.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-A battle for over two hours, the Tigers secured the opening set, 25-22, thanks to 14 kills and committing just six errors.
-However, the Majors responded in the next two sets to win, 25-17 and 25-23. Millsaps out-killed Sewanee, 15-4 and allowed the Tigers to a -.075 attack percentage in the second set.
-Sewanee stormed back to take the fourth set. Tied at 20, Sewanee took three straight to lead, 23-20. Despite the Majors scoring the next two points, Sewanee secured set point with a
Lydia Goffi kill.
-The Majors responded with two straight to tie the fourth set score of 24, but that did not phase Sewanee, as Goffi registered another kill and a
Jessie Atkinson service ace to force the deciding fifth set.
-In set number five, the Majors got out to a 5-1 start and led 12-4 at one point. Sewanee went on a 9-3 run to cut the deficit to 14-13. On the Majors' fifth attempt at match point, the Majors used a Bre Reed kill to win the match.

Lilly Reilly tied her career-high in digs with 23 and added 11 kills. The senior ties her career-most in the category with the 2019 meeting versus Berry.

Adele Cassidy posted a career-high in digs with 25, while
Anna Ball secured a season-high in digs with 21.

Lydia Goffi and
Laurel Burkhardt also added 10 kills each, and
Lexi Williams and
Jessie Atkinson each had 21 assists.
MILLSAPS KEY STATISTICS
-Alyssa Jolly posted a double-double with 22 kills on 56 swings and 10 errors and added 21 digs.
-Bre Reedtallied 18 kills, while Hannah Mattke corralled 34 digs.
