SAA Release
ATLANTA - Announced on Monday by the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), the conference office released the Winter/Spring All-Sportsmanship Teams for the sports of basketball, swimming and diving, baseball, softball, lacrosse, golf, track and field and tennis.
The SAA places a special emphasis on good sportsmanship, great character, and fair play among all competitors.
Selected by the head coaches, below are the representatives for The University of the South.
Men's Basketball - Michael Barry
A senior from Charleston, S.C., Barry dropped 6.8 points per game and a 38.8% from downtown as he started in all 26 games for the Tigers in 2019-20.
Women's Basketball - Kinsley Logan
A sophomore from Lynchburg, Tenn., Logan played in 34 minutes in 26 starts for Sewanee in 2020, scoring 10.5 per game.
Men's Swimming & Diving - James Hoyt
A junior from Mountain Brook, Ala., Hoyt set a new school record in the 500-yard freestyle at the 2020 SAA Championships with a 4:41.83 time. Additionally, he earned All-SAA Honorable Mention honors in the 1,650 free and the 400 free relay.
Women's Swimming & Diving - Paisley Simmons
A junior from Louisville, Ky., Simmons set a new school record in February at the Emory February Invitational with a score of 252.03 points in the 1 Meter, 6 Dives portion. Additionally, she earned All-SAA Second Team honors in both the One- and Three-Meter Dives, while earning a spot at the NCAA Regional Diving Championships in both events.
Baseball - Nick Ewing
A senior from Atlanta, Ga., Ewing pitched 3.2 innings in two appearances this season. In his career with the program, he tossed 57.2 innings on the mound in 30 appearances.
Softball - Sarah Wright
A freshman from Coupeville, Wash., Wright launched two homers and drove in seven RBI in 16 games.
Men's Golf - Tommy Oliver
A senior from Sewanee, Tenn., Oliver led the Tigers with a 72.9 stroke average in 13 rounds in 2019-20. His low of 68 came twice during the year, most recently in Sewanee's lone spring tournament at the Savannah Harbor Classic.
Women's Golf - Caroline Cole
A senior from Gastonia, N.C., Cole posted an 83.9 stroke average in 10 rounds for the Tigers this season.
Men's Lacrosse - Drew Mullen
A sophomore from Radnor, Pa., Mullen totaled 11 points thanks to eight goals and three assists in six contests this season. In 21 career games, he contributed 25 points on 19 goals and six assists.
Women's Lacrosse - Grace Zechman
A senior from Lancaster, Pa., Zechman totaled 27 assists and finished with nine goals to score 36 points for the Tigers in 2020. For her career, she posted 187 points on 131 assists and 56 goals.
Men's Tennis - Thomas Harrison
A sophomore from Thomasville, Ga., Harrison went 1-1 in both singles and doubles this season before the pandemic took over. He is 9-8 overall in both singles and doubles matches in his two-year career with Sewanee.
Women's Tennis - Taylor Sprouse
A senior from Chillicothe, Ohio, Sprouse went 4-2 in doubles and 1-1 in singles this season. For her four-year career with the Tigers, she went 19-2 in singles and 34-13 in doubles.
Men's Track & Field - Cameron Noel
A junior from Washington, D.C., Noel ran to season-best times of 25.79 seconds in the outdoor 200 meters and 57.08 seconds in the 400. In the indoor campaign, he posted 58.22 seconds in the 400 and 7.09 seconds in the 55-meter sprint.
Women's Track & Field - Molly Montgomery
A junior from Grant, Ala., Montgomery earned a new personal best in the indoor 200 meters, running to a 29.82-second finish. Additionally, she ran to outdoor finishes in 29.10 seconds in the 200 and 1:08.20 in the 400.
