SAA Release

ATLANTA - The Southern Athletic Association (SAA) has announced on Wednesday that Jordan Brewer, Liam Baer and Alejandro Becker have been chosen as SAA Men's Tennis Players of the Week following their performances last weekend at the University of Mary Washington.

Brewer was named the Singles Player of the Week, while Baer and Becker were chosen as the Doubles Team of the Week.

Jordan Brewer, SAA Men's Tennis Singles Player of the Week
In three matches where Sewanee faced No. 31 Stevens (N.J.), No. 15 Mary Washington (Va.) and No. 25 Johns Hopkins (Md.), the senior posted wins at the No. flight in each match.

Ranked 37th in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's (ITA) National Division III Singles Rankings, the McKinney, Texas native opened the weekend with a 7-5, 6-1 win over Marc Feliu of Stevens. Feliu was ranked 33rd in the nation in singles and sixth in the Northeast region.

The next day against host UMW, Brewer secured another 7-5, 6-1 win as he took down the Eagles' No. 1 singles player in Moses Hutchison.

On Sunday against Hopkins, Brewer went to three sets with Austin Gu, who is ranked 13th in the Atlantic South Region. The three-time All-SAA selection wrapped up the weekend with a three-set victory at the No. 1, 6-7, 7-6, 10-7.

After earning SAA Doubles Team of the Week honors with partner Hugh Graham, Brewer is 9-1 on the year, 5-0 in spring competition, and has posted a 53-25 singles record in his career.

Alejandro Becker and Liam Baer, SAA Men's Tennis Doubles Team of the Week
The duo posted three wins over the weekend trip in Virginia. Beginning the weekend at the No. 3 point, the team secured an 8-3 win over Gabirel Sifuentes/Eloi Pradler of Stevens.

The next day against Mary Washington, they moved up to the No. 2 flight and face Joseph Brown and Cole Tecce, ranked 10th in the Atlantic South region. That would not matter to them, as they posted an 8-4 victory.

On Sunday against Johns Hopkins, Baer/Becker faced their toughest test yet in spring play, taking on Vik Vasan/Vishnu Joshi, ranked 14th in the ITA National Doubles Rankings and fifth in the Atlantic South region. The team prevailed with an 8-6 victory to complete the weekend sweep.

So far this spring, the team is undefeated with a 4-0 mark.

The Tigers are back in action next Saturday, March 7 to open Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play at Centre.
