Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie with the Scots of Covenant College in the final day of the Kyle Rote, Jr. Invitational Saturday afternoon from Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Sewanee came out attacking early with a fifth minute shot by Andrew Turk, but it was saved by the Covenant goalkeeper.
-In the ninth minute, Thompson Schollaert found Austin Young's pass to give the Tigers the early advantage.
-The Tigers held the Scots to its first shots in the 21st and 23rd minutes, both off-target. However, despite Covenant out-shooting Sewanee, 5-4, in the first half, the home team held the 1-0 advantage at the intermission.
-The visitors netted the equalizers in the 75th minute. After a Sewanee shot and save, the Scots ran downfield and Josh Brower evened the match with the score off of the pass from Anthony Buzzeo.
-The final 15 minutes of regulation saw no shots by either team. Late in regulation, however with less than 10 seconds left, Sewanee tried to capitalize on a game-winning opportunity, but they were offside.
-In overtime, the Scots attempted to end the match 1:42 into the extra period.
-As the time was winding down, Drew Zolper tried to end the match, but the shot was blocked by a Covenant defender.
-In the second extra period, the dramatics flared in the final two minutes. Sewanee's final chance to win the contest came in the 109th minute off a Tashinga Vhumisai shot, saved by the Scots.
-The visitors were able to get a wide shot off with 30 seconds left, and after earning and getting a corner kick off, the match was over.
-Since the teams have renewed their rivalry in 2012, the teams have tied in three of the last nine meetings.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Thompson Schollaert led the team with three total shots, all on goal, and he netted the lone goal.
-Andrew Turk and Severin Velasco each recorded two shots on goal.
-James Murray (2-1-1) saved six shots in full time plus 20 minutes of extra time.
COVENANT KEY STATISTICS
-Josh Brower had five of the team's 13 total shots, four on goal, and netted the game-tying goal.
-Paul Lemay (2-0-1) recorded seven saves in 110 minutes.
