Box Score LEXINGTON, Va. - The Sewanee football team took a 7-0 lead into the locker room, but 42 unanswered points by the Generals of Washington & Lee thanks to 375 rushing yards was the deciding factor, as the Tigers drop Week 2's matchup with the Generals, 42-7, Saturday afternoon from Wilson Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-Neither team could find the endzone for most of the first half. With less than three and a half minutes remaining in the opening half, after starting at the 48-yard-line of the home team, Alex Darras found Cyrus McCullough for a nine-yard touchdown score to give Sewanee the 7-0 lead.
-On the next W&L drive, the Generals were stopped on their goal line thanks to a fumble forced by Alex Coffield and Joe Schauer fell on it in the endzone to gain possession.
-However, the second half was a different story for the home team. Getting the ball first in the second half, W&L ran the ball to the endzone on nine plays and 69 yards to tie the score at seven points each.
-After a Sewanee punt on its first drive of the second half, the Generals went down the field again to gain their first lead, 14-7 with 7:22 left in the third period.
-The Generals added a late score in the third quarter before putting 22 more points up in the final stanza.
-After the Generals posted a total of 128 total yards in the first half, 123 on the ground, the team responded in the second half with 411 yards of offense, 375 on the ground, and 22 first downs.
-On the other side of the ball, Sewanee recorded 201 yards through the air in the first 30 minutes, but in the final half, the team only mustered 166 total offensive yards.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Alex Darras threw for 239 yards on 19-of-34 passing with one touchdown. Cooper Hancock added 132 passing yards.
-Micah Maes (116), Colin May (110) and Cyrus McCullough (102) each recorded a 100-yard game on the receiving end.
-Wesley Porter posted 11 tackles to lead Sewanee, while Pierce Johnson and Joe Schauer each had a fumble recovery.
WASHINGTON & LEE KEY STATISTICS
-The Generals had 539 yards of total offense, led by Drew Richardson, who had 131 yards on the ground on 16 carries and a touchdown.
-Josh Breece scored twice on the ground and finished with 85 rushing yards.
-Fred Benham had six total tackles, while Andrew Frailer and Connor Corbett each had 1.5 sacks.
