Box Score 2 SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee volleyball team, in the team's home opener, picked up two straight-set victories over Centre (25-13, 25-20, 25-19) in the Southern Athletic Association opener for both teams and LaGrange (25-14, 25-12, 25-18) Friday afternoon inside Juhan Gymnasium. Additionally, head coach Nancy Mueller-Culver earned her 200th career victory as a collegiate head coach in the nightcap against LaGrange.

HOW IT HAPPENED, CENTRE
-In the opening match of the two-day tournament, Sewanee started strong with 14 kills on just two attack errors and a .500 hitting percentage.
-Leading 16-13 late in the first set, the Tigers won the final nine points to seal the contest, 25-13.
-In the second set, the Colonels had their best opportunity of the match to even the contest up at a set apiece trailing 23-20. However, after back-to-back kills by Lilly Reilly, the Tigers led the match 2-0.
-In the third set, despite Centre getting to a three-point deficit, 20-17, the Tigers took the next four points to secure match point. However, the Colonels would not go away quietly, taking the next two points to make it 24-19.
-On the next rally, Reilly clinched the match with a kill thanks to a blocking error.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Lilly Reilly led all attackers with 16 kills on a .448 attack percentage (16-3-29). The sophomore added five service aces and seven digs.
-Destiny Stewart recorded 11 kills and 10 digs.
-Macy Gardella added six kills and three block assists.
-For the match, the Tigers had 41 kills to the Colonels' 28.
CENTRE KEY STATISTICS
-Savanna Roper led the Colonels with nine kills, while Peyton Vacala had 12 digs.
HOW IT HAPPENED, LAGRANGE
-In the nightcap, the Tigers cruised to a straight-set victory over the Panthers, and the Tigers defense held the visitors to negative attack percentages in the second and third sets.
-The win versus LaGrange was the 200th career victory in the career of head coach Nancy Mueller-Culver. In 10 seasons at the Division I level between South Florida and Illinois-Chicago, she recorded 174 victories, and in her second year at The University of the South, she now has 26 wins.
SEWANEE KEY STATISTICS
-Destiny Stewart led all attackers with eight kills and digs each.
-Olivia Nichols had eight digs and seven kills, while Lexi Williams had 10 assists.
-Stephanie Price and Macy Gardella each recorded six kills.
LAGRANGE KEY STATISTICS
-Yasmin Roper and Jazzlyn Kenner each had five kills to pace LaGrange.

The final day of the Sewanee Invitational occurs Saturday, as the Tigers take on the Owls from the Mississippi University for Women and the Scotties of Agnes Scott.
