Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Sewanee men's soccer team dropped its Southern Athletic Association (SAA) opener, 3-1, Friday night at Puett Field.
Oglethorpe (6-2-1, 1-0-1) opened the contest with a ninth minute goal by Topher Marshall.
Sewanee (4-5-0, 0-1-0) did not waste any time tying the contest as Kyle Johnston after Rhodes Hall attempted a header that was saved.
The tie would not last long, as Marshall netted to go-ahead goal in the 22nd minute to retake the lead, 2-1, before completing the hat trick in the 63rd minute.
The Tigers defense stood tall in the second half, allowing four goals in the second half.
Will Merriman (4-5) saved four shots in goal for the Tigers.
Sewanee concludes the weekend on Sunday at noon with a SAA matchup with Berry at Puett Field.
