Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A nail-biting battle between Sewanee and Rhodes is a great start for Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play, but the Tigers were on the short end of the match on Saturday afternoon, as Rhodes takes down the Purple and Gold in four sets inside Mallory Gymnasium.
Rhodes took the opening set, 25-23, but the Tigers bounced backed to even the match with a 25-22 score.
However, the Lynx (6-4, 1-1) took control of the match in the third set, committing only two errors for the 25-19 win, and they would hold on for the fourth set and match victory, 25-23.
Destiny Stewart was the leading attacker for the match, missing a double-double by one dig, as the freshman finished with 22 kills and nine digs.
Peyton Parent recorded 35 digs in the match, while Olivia Nichols totaled 18 digs for the Tigers (5-4, 0-1)
Elizabeth Gill committed one error in 31 attacks, finishing with 11 kills and a .323 hitting percentage.
Both setters for Sewanee hit the 20-assist mark, as Constance Connolly had 24 assists and Anna Wilson recorded 20.
Elasha Williams had 16 kills and 11 digs for the Lynx in the win.
The Tigers will wrap up the weekend on Sunday with a contest against Hendrix. First serve is scheduled for noon.
