Box Score 2 SEWANEE, Tenn. (March 11, 2017) – The Sewanee softball team dropped a doubleheader Saturday to Southern Athletic Association (SAA) foe Birmingham-Southern.
The visiting Panthers earned a 15-1 win the opener and then won the nightcap, 15-0.
Sewanee played well early in game one. The Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of first when Rachel Hoffman scored Charlsey Shirey. BSC answered back with eight runs in the third and seven in the fifth.
Shirley finished 2-for-2 with a run scored. Infielder Taylor Anderson led BSC with a 2-for-3 performance with two runs and four RBI.
In the second game, Sewanee was limited to two hits. BSC starter Haley Crumpton tossed a complete game with eight strikeouts.
Katie Roth earned her second hit of the day while Sydney Leibfritz also reached on a single.
BSC and Sewanee are scheduled to conclude their series a noon, Sunday,
