Box Score ROME, Ga. (Sept. 24, 2016) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) member Berry scored three straight goals to defeat the Sewanee men's soccer team, Saturday, at Bob Pearson Field.
The loss is the Tigers fourth straight after starting the season 4-0-1. Sewanee is also 0-1 to start SAA action.
Berry led 1-0 when Jake Doiron scored in the eighth minute off a pass from Daniel Shaw. Eight minutes later, Berry pushed its advantage to 2-0 as Daniel Ray ripped home a shot.
Eventually, the Vikings scored for the final time in the 75th minute. After a great pass from Tristen Turpin, Jake Williamson converted his attempt.
Sewanee got its lone goal when freshman Ben Vaeth headed a pass from Max Hawes into the left corner of the net.
Overall, Berry led in shots 17-9. Sewanee did manage to edge the Vikings in corners by a 5-4 margin.
Individually, Hawes led the attack with three shots while Will Merriman finished with six saves in goal.
Sewanee returns to action with a 7:00 p.m. home match against Huntingdon, Tuesday.
