Box Score SEWANEE, Tenn. (Sept. 16, 2016) – In a contest that featured numerous scoring runs, the Sewanee volleyball team dropped a 3-0 Southern Athletic Association (SAA) match to visiting Birmingham-Southern early Saturday inside Juhan Gymnasium.
Sewanee led multiple times in the first and second sets before BSC rallied to win both by scores of 25-21 and 25-19. The Panthers then closed out the contest with a 25-11 win in the final set.
Overall, BSC was led by a stellar offense that hit .216 and finished with 32 kills despite nine fewer offensive chances.
Individually, Jeneva Salter, who finished with 12 kills, led the Panthers. Rachel Lee and Marjorie Ward both allowed BSC to stay efficient on offense with 11 and 17 assists, respectively.
With no players reaching double-digit digs, freshman setter Constance Connolly led Sewanee with her first career double-double. Connolly added 14 digs and 12 assists from her setter position.
Additionally, senior libero Sara Jayne Sutton stopped 13 attacks while also having two assists and two aces.
Sewanee quickly returns to action with a 1:00 p.m., Sunday against Millsaps.
