Four players with double digit digs lift Sewanee past LeTourneau

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (Sept. 10, 2016)  Led by an outstanding defense, the Sewanee volleyball team wrapped up the Rhodes Invitational with a 3-2 win over LeTourneau, Saturday, inside Mallory Gymnasium. 

Overall, four players ended the five-set match with double-digit digs. Senior Diamond Stewart finished with 10 kills and 10 digs. Libero Sara Jayne Sutton led all Tigers with 29 stops while freshmen setters Anna Wilson and Constance Connolly each finished with 11 digs. Additionally, Wilson added 16 assists while Connolly finished with 15.

After winning the opening two sets 25-19, 25-22 Sewanee dropped the next two frames at 25-18 and 25-14. In the final set, Sewanee quickly built a 10-3 lead. After multiple kills by Stewart and Stephanie Price, the Tigers closed out the match at 15-9.

Sewanee will open a three-match homestand with a 5:30 p.m. match against Centre, Tuesday.
