DANVILLE, Ky. (April 9, 2016) – Despite an early 1-0 lead, the Sewanee softball team dropped a 9-1 decision at Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Centre, Saturday, at South Campus Field.

The Tigers led 1-0 after the end of the first inning when Rachel Hoffman hit her first career homerun to center field with two outs.

Unfortunately, Centre answered with six runs in the bottom of the inning and three more in the bottom of the fifth.

Overall, Courtney Saunders led Sewanee with two hits, which included one double.

Alisha Russell led the Colonels going 3-for-3 with three RBI and a run scored. Centre finished with nine hitters that had at least one hit.

Inside the circle, Centre starter Erika Brewer struck out three in the complete-game win.
