No. 17 BSC wins series against Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 3, 2016) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival No. 17 Birmingham-Southern wrapped up a three-game sweep of the Sewanee softball team, Sunday, at Tiger Field.

The Panthers won the first game 25-0 and then took the second 15-0.

In the opener, BSC finished with 24 hits, which included eight doubles, two triples, and a homerun by Alex Skene. Overall, 11 Panthers finished with an RBI.

Courtney Saunders and Katie Roth both had a hit for Sewanee.

In the second game, BSC scored 15 runs on 17 hits. In this contest, the Panthers pounded out nine extra-base hits while seven players finished with an RBI.

BSC starter Taylor Harkins and reliever Elizabeth Sims combined for a no-hitter.

Sewanee returns to action at Centre next weekend.
