Box Score 2 SEWANEE, Tenn. (April 16, 2016) – Southern Athletic Association (SAA) rival Millsaps swept a doubleheader against the Sewanee softball team Saturday at Tiger Field.
The visiting Majors won the first game 11-0 and then took the second 23-3.
In the opener Millsaps starter Cassidy DeNoon tossed a perfect game with seven strikeouts. Overall, Doggett led six Millsaps hitters with multiple hits with a 3-for-3 performance and three RBI.
In the second game, Millsaps led 9-0 before Sewanee scored three runs in the bottom of the third. With one out, Sara Burklin drove in Rachel Hoffman with an RBI. A batter later, Miranda Townsend drove in two runs with a single that plated Mackenzie Hobbs and Courtney Saunders.
Unfortunately, Millsaps scored 14 runs over the next two innings.
Overall, Hobbs led the Tigers with two hits and two RBI. Caroline Holmes also added a double while Hoffman reached base twice.
Murray led Millsaps with two hits, one homerun, and five RBI.
Sewanee and Millsaps will conclude the series with a single game at noon, Sunday.
