Softball drops doubleheader at Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. (April 10, 2016) – The Sewanee softball team closed out its series at Centre Sunday by losing a pair of games.

The Colonels won the first game 12-0 and then took the second, 8-0.

In the opener, Centre starter Elysse Petrie and reliever Sidney Spivey combined to allow just one hit. That hit came by Rachel Hoffman who finished 1-for-2.

Leadoff hitter Lauren Richards led Centre going 3-for-4 with three RBI. Richards finished with two doubles and a homerun.

In the second game, Centre starter Erika Brewer pitched a perfect game with five strikeouts.

Again Richards led the offense with a 3-for-3 performance and two RBI. She finished with her second homerun and scored once.

Sewanee returns to action at Rust, Tuesday.
