Despite taking two doubles matches, No. 28 Sewanee falls at No. 1 Emory

ATLANTA. (March 6, 2016) – Despite two early doubles wins, the No. 28 ranked Sewanee men's tennis team dropped a 7-2 match at No. 1 Emory, Sunday, in Atlanta.

The Tigers are now 4-4 overall while the Eagles are now 5-2. Sewanee's losses have come against NCAA Division I teams UT-Chattanooga, Vanderbilt, and Middle Tennessee State University along with Sunday's defeat against Emory.

Sewanee opened as Avery Schober and Fletcher Kerr defeated David Omsky and Andrew Harrington 8-4 at No. 3. No. 2 ranked Eric Roddy and Jack Gray also won in doubles as they outlasted Scott Rubinstein and James Spaulding at No. 1, 9-8.

Despite an early 2-0 deficit the 2016 ITA National Indoor Champion Eagles won all six singles matches in straight sets.

The closest match for Sewanee came at No. 2 as Roddy was defeated by Jonathan Jemison in straight sets 6-4, 7-5.
